Categories of CompetitionREGIONAL SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING FAIRS At the regional fairs, the categories of competition may vary but will be similar to those at the state or international competition. You should contact your regional director for this information.OKLAHOMA STATE SCIENCE & ENGINEERING FAIR Students at OSSEF compete in either Division I (Grades 10 - 12) or Division II (Grades 7 - 9) and in one of the following categories:Behavioral and Social Sciences Biochemistry, Medicine, and Health Sciences Botany and Zoology Earth and Space Sciences Engineering Environmental Science Mathematics and Computer Science Microbiology Physical Science
Students may also compete in a category called Team Projects. Team projects are allowed to have a maximum of three students on a team and can involve projects in any of the disciplines included in the regular categories. Team projects will compete in Division I or Division II. All team participants must be in grades 7 - 9 in order to compete in Division II. Team projects whose participants are in grades 9-12 are be eligible for competition at the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) and must comply with all ISEF rules and limitations. In both divisions, category awards are made to the first, second, third and fourth place projects. All exhibitors in grades 9 -12 will compete for a trip to the ISEF. Special award winners are selected without consideration of grade level unless otherwise specified by the sponsor. |
